Welcoming Three New Board Members to MANTRA

Our mission goes beyond protecting Manitobans from the harms of tobacco and nicotine.

We’re working to educate people about new and emerging nicotine products, advocate for policies that keep youth safe, and strengthen Manitoba’s response to tobacco and nicotine through collaboration with our alliance partners.

That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome three new board members to support our mission, each bringing unique experience and passion to help guide our efforts toward a nicotine-free future.

Olsen Jarvis

Olsen is a Chronic Disease Management Clinician in Respiratory Therapy with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) My Health Team. A respiratory therapist by training, he has over 20 years of experience in smoking cessation and is a Certified Tobacco Educator (CTE).

He’s passionate about helping people quit and knows how quickly new nicotine products are emerging. With his decades of experience counseling people who smoke, Olsen brings valuable insight to support MANTRA’s mission and guide our work.

Nausheen Peerwani

Nausheen is an Educational Developer at the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning at the University of Manitoba and a volunteer Crisis Counselor at Klinic Community Health Centre. A dedicated nursing professional, she brings deep expertise in clinical education, community engagement, and volunteerism.

She has designed and led workshops that help nursing students and educators grow their skills in critical thinking and evidence-informed care. Beyond education, Nausheen has worked in public health outreach, including smoking cessation, substance use prevention, child protection, and adolescent health. Her passion for healthier communities makes her a strong advocate for MANTRA’s work.

Karri-Ann Jarvis

Karri-Ann is the Director of Human Resources at Northway Aviation LP. She’s committed to creating inclusive workplaces that support psychological health, leadership development, and open communication.

Her dedication to healthy environments aligns with MANTRA’s mission. She understands the serious impact nicotine has on people and our healthcare system, and how social barriers can make quitting or preventing use more difficult. Karri-Ann is also passionate about protecting people from second-hand smoke and supporting a future where more Manitobans live smoke-free.

Stay Connected

We’re thrilled to welcome Olsen, Nausheen, and Karri-Ann to our Board. Their expertise and passion will help us continue building momentum toward a smoke-free Manitoba.
